WAY & UKYP Election Candidates
Wiltshire's 2012 WAY and UKYP election candidate's are split across three regions - North, East and West Wiltshire.
If you're not sure which area applies to you ask your youth worker or email Hayley at hayley.bambrough@wiltshire.gov.uk and tell her where you're from so she can help you out.
From midnight on Monday 6th – midnight on Sunday 12th February text voting lines open across the county for the Wiltshire Assembly of Youth (WAY) and UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) Elections, 2012.
26 young people, aged between 11 and 19, have put themselves forward to represent and communicate your views, concerns and achievements, both locally to your MPs and other key Wiltshire Council stakeholders, and nationally as part of the UK Youth Parliament.
During election week, you will be offered the chance to elect your newest local WAY and UKYP members based on their manifesto pledges, and the official election campaign posters with all the details of who is standing in your area will be coming out to your school, college and youth centre very shortly.
When lines open you can cast your vote by sending a single text message to 80800 with the word ‘elect…’ followed by the name of your chosen candidate.
A single text vote is free of charge, after that no further votes from that mobile telephone number will be counted and if you try and vote twice you may be charged, so please remember:
ONE PHONE = ONE VOTE.
If you don't have access to a mobile phone you can use your local youth worker's phone to cast your vote.
You can find the candidates standing in your region and read their manifestos in the PDF download opposite.
Last year Wilsthire had the largest turn-out of young voters anywhere in the country with 33,000 votes cast, but we know we can do even better!!!
Get ready, it's nearly time to make your mark...
