Canberra is located between the Texaco Garage and the Hospital on Spa Road and is a purpose built youth centre.

In the centre there is a main hall area downstairs and a fully equiped kitchen and chill out area upstairs.

Equipment that is on offer for you to use includes:

  • 2 new pool tables
  • Playstation 2 with a variety of games
  • Air Hockey Table
  • Sports Court outside the back of the centre
  • Computers with internet access
  • Kitchen area for you to learn and improve your cooking skills
  • Chill out room
  • Table football
  • Footballs, basketball etc
  • Projector and big screen

Also the balcony area is being refurblished and with new furniture appearing all over Canberra it will be unrecognisable!! Keep an eye out for other new additions!

The Youth Develpment Co-ordintor at Melksham is Lorraine and there are 7 other Assistant Youth Workers who are Niall, Jemma, Natalie, Janice, Julie, Gemma and Stacey.

Canberra has a relaxed atmosphere and is a great place to meet up with your friends, learn new skills and find out about opportunities that are available to you.

Weekday Evenings & Project Nights - what's going on in June....

 

MONDAYS - 6:30pm - 8.45pm

If you are aged between 13-19 then you can come up on a Monday night. Monday's are a drop-in based session where you can take part in activities and games that take place on a regular basis. There is an entry fee of 30p

2nd - Drop in - Pop & Pizza Night

9th - Drop in - Cross Stitch with Niall or obtain your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

16th - Drop in - Cross Stitch with Niall or obtain your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Planning for Group walk.

23rd - Drop in - Pop & Pizza Night, "Keep yourself safe" PCSO to talk about personal safety. Walking group planning meeting.

30th - Drop in - Marie Curie Cancer Care tea party fundraiser.

 

 

TUESDAYS - 6:30pm - 8:45pm

3rd - Street Based Youth Work

10th - Closed

17th - Centre Committee Meeting and Street Based Youth Work

24th - Street Based Youth Work

 

 

WEDNESDAYS - 6:30pm - 8.45pm

Evening's Drop in session's.  Just pop in and take part in the activities taking place on a regular basis. 

4th - Drop in - Stress relief - learn ways to manage those pre-exam and life stresses

11th - Drop in - Continue workshop- prepare and plan a meal.

18th -Drop in - Plan for sports day and "postcards for inspectors"

25th - Drop in - Outdoor Giant Games/ Sports Day

 

 

THURSDAYS - 6:30pm - 8:45pm

5th - Drop in - Rounders on the field. Prepare and plan a meal workshop.

12th - Drop in - Money Management Workshop - How good are you at managing your money??

19th - St Johns Ambulance - Obtain your Basic First Aid Certificate.

26th - Drop in - Candle making and Cake making for the Marie Cancer Tea Party Fundraiser.

 

 

Melksham Youth Cafe

If you are aged 8-14 then come down to the Melksham Youth Cafe, which runs on a Tuesday night from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. It is located at the Adventure Centre in King George V Playing Field and is a registered charity.

Equipment that is on offer includes:

  • Computer Suite with internet access
  • Two pool tables
  • Table Tennis
  • Tuck Shop
  • Playstation

There is a relaxed atmopshere with pool competitions on regulary towards the end of the night. The Melksham Youth Cafe is a place for you to meet up with your friends and have a place to hang out on a Tuesday night. For those of you that are over 14 there will be another night opening for you soon, so watch this space!
