Amesbury...the P team report
Young fathers from Wiltshire and Swindon have been making a film since November.
They have made it for a number of reasons.
They are aware that, as a group, they do not get a ‘good press’. They want to show they are willing to face up to their responsibilities as parents, and that they recognise their importance in the lives of their children.
They want this film to help inform the national debate about teenage parenthood, challenge stereotypical prejudices, and remind us that ‘dads matter too’.
They intend to 'launch' it towards the end of next month.
Have a look at the film so far - www.dads-matter-too.blogspot.com
What's this all about:
Ofsted, is a government organisation, responsible for assessing the quality of services for children and young people in England. They are visiting us to check out the quality of youth work you receive.
What will happen:
The inspection team will want to gain an understanding about the youth work which you receive, the opportunities which you can get involved in and your achievements.
Good Stuff!
The Ofsted inspection team will visit the youth development centres, street based youth workers, other projects and places where youth work is taking place to see for themselves all the good work we currently do.
We can’t all be perfect!
Like with anything there will always be room for improvement, not too much we hope but this process will make sure that we are delivering what you want.
The Whole Story! - Watch this space, Sparksite will keep you up to date with what is going on with this whole process nearer the time.
'Huge apologies but the WYPOF results for the last round have been delayed. If you would like further information contact Christina Cranston on 01380 735781.

WYPOF is a pot of money given to us by the Government to pay for young people’s activities in the local area. This money is there for young people to bid for things they’d like to do but haven’t had the chance to. This many be activities like residentials, youth councils, dance projects, environmental projects, arts/drama, sports, developing projects that benefit other young people, etc.
The fund is managed by a group of young people from the local area, the WYPOF funding panel, who meet to consider and discuss applications and decide on how the fund will be given out.
There is also money available from the Young People’s Capital Fund, a pot of money to be used on things like doing up buildings, buying mobile resources, youth shelters and ICT equipment etc. This fund is also managed by a group of young people.

We are a group of young people aged between 13 - 19 years old from
around Wiltshire. We have been trained to give an objective opinion from a young person's point of view on youth centres and services for young people.
We are looking to recruit new members to join our team.
The training is accredited so we get a qualification for taking part. It's also free and transport is provided to and from each session. The training ongoing, so there will be lots of different opportunities to join. We inspect youth centres as our main and most consistent project - this is ongoing throughout the year and we work alongside staff in the Youth Development Service.
