My WAY Profile - Ellie Vesey-Thompson
Ellie Vesey-Thompson
17, Marlborough
Member of WAY and UK Youth Parliament (East)
This is my third year on WAY and Youth Parliament, and I have really enjoyed the experiences so far.
I am the Youth Parliament Media Rep for Wiltshire, and so am involved in lots of media work, and try hard to get as many positive press mentions about young people as possible.
I joined both WAY and Youth Parliament in 2010, when a local youth worker informed me of the elections, and I stood again the following year to get another two years on Youth Parliament, and 3 years on WAY.
I find it really important to make young people aware of where they can go to get their voices heard and make a change, and I find it frustrating that some of the issues young people were facing at my first election are still effecting them today, as no solutions have yet been found.
I have 4 younger siblings, ranging from 13 years to 18 months, 4 dogs and lots of fish. I have always lived in the countryside, but have moved house over 7 times in my life.
I am currently in my first year of 6th Form, studying English, History, Philosophy, Biology, Italian and Maths as part of the International Baccalaureate, as an alternative to A Levels. I am looking at studying Arabic and Politics at University, before doing a Law conversion course and training as a barrister, and potentially becoming involved in politics in later life.
