The Olympic Torch route - Don't miss out!
Excitement is building as yesterday (April 24) marked only four weeks to go until the Olympic Torch comes to us in Wiltshire!
The Olympic Torch Relay will be a 70-day celebration, starting in the UK on May 18th, travelling thousands of miles and bringing the London 2012 Games to almost every community across the UK.
The historic Olympic Torch comes to Wiltshire on May 22nd until May 23rd and then travels through part of the county again on July 11th and July 12th. Wiltshire is in a unique position as the Olympic Torch comes through on two separate occasions.
Communities across the county are busy planning lots of celebrations which will make the Olympic Torch coming to Wiltshire a truly memorable experience for everyone!
To celebrate the Olympic Torch passing through the county the Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration is taking place on July 11 at Salisbury’s Hudson Field with lots of entertainment planned. The festival is also set to include a business breakfast event involving more than 300 local businesses, providing them with a fantastic opportunity to promote themselves to the thousands of people expected to attend. A workshop for schools, a sports programme, street performers, a fun fair and a farmers’ and craft market, will also be at the event.
