Help conserve Wildlife - be a keeper for the day

Do you know someone who’s mad about wildlife and conservation? Stuck for something to get them for Christmas, birthdays or anniversaries? How about a wander with wolves, a brush with bison or an encounter with otters?

The New Forest Wildlife Park, near Longdown on the edge of the New Forest, is offering the chance to be a keeper for the day, allowing wildlife fans to find out at firsthand about the ups and downs of looking after animals. Money raised from keeper days is used to help support rescued wildlife and also contributes towards the park’s conservation programmes.

With deer, foxes, owls, otters, wild boar, harvest mice, badgers, lynx, polecats, ferrets, water voles, adders, wildcats, pine martens, bison, wallabies, wolves and other rescued or endangered animals on site, there’s plenty to keep you busy.

Junior two hour keeper experiences are available for 10-15 year olds and costs £100 and can be booked from March to June or September to November - these can be tailored to individual interests and can involve feeding and mucking out the animals, helping keepers with guided tours, looking after injured animals, preparing feeds, meeting some of the tame wildlife and working alongside the park’s keepers in their daily rounds.

New Forest Wildlife Park is a family attraction that aims to educate people about wildlife conservation and the threats to endangered species.  The Park is involved in international breeding programmes for endangered species and also works with the RSPCA to rescue injured or abandoned animals such as otters and return them to the wild.
