National Citizen Service, the story so far...

So far the Locality C and Rural North teams have taken part in fundraising, Go Karting and Go Ape. After getting to know each other a little they departed on to the next stage of their National Citizen Service (NCS) adventure...

On Monday 16th July the teams left for Surrey to take part in their first residential together. The teams got to know each other a little more over the five days through team building activities including high ropes, low ropes, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, kayaking and navigation challenges.

On Tuesday 24th July the teams met again to live at Lackham College for four days. During this time they completed challenges that would develop some of the practical skills they would need to take forward their Social Action Project ideas. These included Food Hygiene training, First Aid, and budgeting tasks.

They also completed some volunteering for the Bradford on Avons Fringe Festival and secured many sponsors for the event, including donations that totalled £60. At the same time they developed their marketing knowledge and gained business tips from local businesses.

The teams also had their photo taken by a photographer from the Wiltshire Times, so look out for them in the paper!

This week they begin planning their Social Action Projects.

Watch this space for reviews from them, plus more information on the projects...
