My first day with SparkSite
My First Day At Sparks Radio By Katie Spencer
My names Katie Spencer and i am currently a year 10 student at Sheldon School.During year 10 we have a week off school, during the May month, in which we go off to a work place of our choice for work experience. As a person i am very interested in media/arts and are considering being part of this in my later working life. Because of this i chose to go to Sparks Radio as they not only have there own radio station which locals can get involved in but there basis is on youths and social activities which involve media and other subjects such as events which youths can get involved in. They also write reviews on events in Wiltshire which i am interested in as i am considering journalisim as a future career as it can open up doors which can lead to media. I also chose sparks radio as they are very involved with my local area and my age group which i want to be more educated in.
2nd day of work experience:
what a long day!
During my first morning of work experience i arrived at 9.30am as my working hours are 9.30 till 5pm. I enterted the building and met my smiling employer, Jo Kerr, as she introduced me to the staff of the office. The office itself is very relaxed as all the staff are really friendly and made me feel right at home. Once meeting the staff i was then introduced to the different areas of the office and where different equiptment was based for example the fax machience, printer, different desks and lets not forget the tea and biscuit area. We then went through the safety percautions as she directed me where all the fire exits and safety hazards are throughout the office. Once finishing this i was then introduced to my own desk and computer for the day. I was then set a task to right a review of the Sparks Radio website itself and told what i’d be doing for the rest of my working week.
