Good Night, Sleep Tight is a performance by Stage 65, a youth drama group from Salisbury Playhouse and the story is based around bedtime, sleep and dreams. The ages of the actors were mostly the same, about 15 and 16 year olds, however one of the characters was a bit older, about 20. There were about 9 or 10 different actors, but most of them had two or three roles. The play lasted for about an hour.
My favourite scene was the camping scene. I enjoyed this scene in particular as the lighting, sound effects and acting was great and it was also a very comic scene. The actor’s reactions to the sound effects was very funny, it was a creative way of showing the characters’ fears. The only thing that I found to be wrong with this scene was the tent which blocked some of the action on the other side of the stage.
The other scene I enjoyed was the child’s bedtime scene, because the toys came to life. The actors adapted well to their characters; a Ballerina from a music box, a nutcracker doll, and a teddy bear. Their facial features and movements were excellent; I also I found the child with the mask was very successful and worked well with the mask.
The set was very simple, it only had mattresses, pillows, and a few blankets. Good Night, Sleep Tight was a rounded performance, if I had to rate it I would give it a 9 out of 10. I enjoyed it and would love to see it again.
