Have you ever been stopped by the police?

This can be a scary situation to be in and you may wonder what are your rights!

If police stop you, they must tell you why they have stopped you, their name, the police station they’re from and the fact that you can have a copy of the search record.

You don’t have to answer their questions but stay calm and give your name and address.

Don't be offensive or rude you run the risk of being arrested if you are! You don’t need to answer any other questions until you’ve received legal advice.
